Named ‘Peter Pan’ by Condé Nast Traveller for his ability to conjure Neverlands on earth, Nick Jones is the man responsible for Soho Farmhouse – part of the collection of 16 private member’s clubs (or ‘Houses’) spread across the globe.
Renowned for his original, creative vision, each one of Jones’ masterpieces are unique and designed to transport its members to another world in which their creativity and entrepreneurial spirits shine.
And Soho Farmhouse is widely regarded as his greatest venture – one of Britain’s most exceptional hotels.
Set in 100 acres of Oxfordshire countryside, this resort captures classic Cotswold charm in its rural 18th-century buildings and adds a dash of quirky, modern design to the scene with its 40 wooden/corrugated iron cabins…
Just 90 minutes from London, this is the perfect getaway from hectic city life and a truly enchanting escape. The best part is that you can stay even if you don’t have membership!
So what do we love about Soho Farmhouse and why did we melt when we saw those interiors?
1) The Play Cabin
Set privately in the open-fields of the estate, this quaint cabin offers an exclusive getaway. Complete with roaring wood-burner, high ceilings with quintessential wooden beams and vintage record-player, the Play Cabin is the epitome of an idyllic, cosy hideaway. It even has its own rocking chair on the porch for you to while away the hours…
The bedroom features an exquisite four-poster bed with Egyptian cotton sheets. Elegant and charming, this country-vintage style decor is reflected throughout the room; from the distressed bed frame to the luxurious bed curtains, from the antique bedside clock to the patterned wallpaper. The soft olive-green theme of the bedroom interiors creates an ambience of calm and class.
2) The Bell Tent
These quirky bell tents take camping out in nature to a new level of jaw-dropping opulence. Equipped with its very own wood burning stove, extravagant 6-foot bed and armchairs, each tent showcases the best of boho chic interior design. At the foot of the bed sits a vintage trunk, the patterned cushions are flamboyant with bohemian colours and the sheepskin rugs are sumptuously tactile and inviting.
To top it all off, there’s an outdoor hot water bottle station so you can cuddle-up snug in your outdoor living area, and there are hay bales encircling a fire pit if you fancy toasting some marshmallows under the stars.
3) The One-Bunk-One-Bed Cabin
As with every one of Jones’ Houses, Soho Farmhouse has been designed with your utmost comfort in mind. Every detail has been considered so you don’t have to; from the cashmere-covered hot water bottles to the towel stand waiting majestically beside your freestanding bathtub.
Again showcasing the spine-tingling awesomeness of the boho-chic design style, every item of furniture is full of character and eclectic, yet perfectly harmonises with the rest of the decor. This cabin tells the story of quirky, rustic cosiness and yet also delivers 110% on unadulterated luxury.
4) Three Bed Cabin
Romantic and enchanting, this 3-double bedroom cabin is positioned right on the lake. The design of the Soho Farmhouse cabins was said to have been inspired by the website Cabin Porn and without doubt a very special, unique spin on the traditional cabin-style has been created here.
With homely charm and deluxe quality found in every item, these cabins feature rainforest showers, freestanding baths and balconies. Here you can bathe in your outdoor copper bathtub with your Negroni (the cocktails are found ready-mixed in the fridge) and daydream as you stare peacefully out over the lake…
5) And Let’s Not Forget the Facilities
Trust us when we say that you won’t get bored in Soho Farmhouse. You’ll be spoiled for choice with a luxurious Cowshed Spa; indoor-outdoor swimming pool floating on the lake; ice rink in the winter; cookery school; boating on the lake and sunbeds; Josh Wood Atelier hairdressing salon; a hot-tub island with sauna and ice room; horse riding and tennis courts; gym and five-a-side football; zipwire and wigwam; reconditioned milk floats that serve cocktails at your cabin and take you on picnics; Chicago-style bar and let’s not forget the phenomenal 60-seat Electric Barn Cinema soon to open…
6) And What If Hunger Strikes?
Dine in the enormous Main Barn and soak up its grand, yet incredibly snug atmosphere. Complete with roaring log fire, comfy sofas and leather seats stamped ‘Soho Farmhouse’, the ambience here is refined, genteel and promises excellence in an effortless manner.
Or try the superb Japanese ‘Pen Yen’ restaurant where the decor just makes anyone dining feel like an absolute rock star; the Boathouse glass ceilings offer a view up to the stars at night, the funky zebra-print cushions and seats, and the verdant green plants juxtaposed against the purple wooden furniture.
And of course you must pop in to the Farmhouse Deli for a selection of deli delights. In true farmhouse style, this shop enamours with its rustic charm and promises premium-quality produce.
An extraordinary resort which you’ll be telling your friends about for years to come. A must-stay!
