Our brief for this project was to create two apartments with contemporary interiors, reflecting the style of building. The apartments are located in Islington, a culturally diverse part of London, with many bars and restaurants. There is also a wide selection of individual shops and Camden Passage market is nearby.
An Eclectic Look
The first floor flat is aimed at a youthful buyer, with an eclectic look that includes some bespoke pieces. We wanted to incorporate some items from the many great furniture and antique shops nestled amongst the bars and eateries on Upper Street. One such item is the desk chair in the master bedroom, which is from Twenty Twenty-One. We also selected a range of accessories from vintage emporium, After Noah, helping to create a welcoming and “lived in” feeling throughout the apartment. The dining chairs have gorgeous leather strapped backs with wooden seats and the curved sofa makes a statement against the trio of marble coffee tables. This effectively zones the reception room into Living and Dining areas.
Sophisticated and Contemporary
We designed the second apartment for a slightly older purchaser, but still with a contemporary look. The furniture is more of the classic chocolate oak mixed in with pieces using glass and marble. The colours are all deep and warm tones mixed with neutrals to create a sophisticated palette and the bedrooms feel calm but sumptuous. The Living Room also needed to exude warmth and comfort, so we covered the large L-shape sofa in oversized cushions. The dining chairs have an interesting curve on the back for those long dinner parties. We concentrated on using collectables, seasonal flowers and coffee table books to style this apartment.
These are certainly two very stylish apartments in one of the trendiest parts of London.
