We thought we would introduce you to some of our Brand Partnership Group members starting with David Fowkes Jewellery……
Who is David Fowkes?
David Fowkes is a multi-award-winning bespoke jeweller who designs exceptional avantgarde jewellery with a passion for the unconventional.
After leaving school, David Fowkes read Silversmithing and Jewellery alongside Physical Education in Liverpool. He taught in school for two years, before deciding to leave the UK and explore the world by bicycle. Over seven years he travelled widely, and was fortunate to work with artisan jewellers across the globe, learning a vast array of techniques and processes. These experiences influenced the philosophy of design that we see in David’s work today.
On his return to the UK, David undertook a series of appointments with UK based jewellers and silversmiths to hone and refine his skills, before launching his own business in the late 1980’s. Over the last thirty years, David has developed a style of jewellery with a particular passion for the unconventional: perhaps a reflection of the route taken to become a goldsmith!
Tell us more about abut David Fowkes style and the stones you use?
A growing number of discerning clients throughout the UK are choosing unique gemstones, eccentric cuts and colours that show off their personalities. It seems that diamonds are no longer a girl’s best friend! The stone is often the starting point for David’s award-winning design and he estimates that around 95 per cent of his work is client commission.
Known for his signature use of these large colourful gemstones including Aquamarine, Topaz, Tourmaline and Australian Boulder Opal, fans include Craig Revel Horwood, who wore pieces from David’s menswear range during the last series of BBC Strictly Come Dancing.
David’s hands on approach…. ?
David travels extensively to personally source some of the most important, rare and exceptional quality gemstones. He is currently in Australia for a 5-week trip to source the very best opals direct from the mines and to meet new clients.
Thank you for travelling all the way from Nottinghamshire for the launch party
David and the team were delighted to be asked to become a luxury brand partner by Alexander James Interior Design and attend the prestigious brand partnership launch at the Maddox Gallery, Mayfair. David enjoyed discussing his distinctive jewellery with new colleagues and guests and is looking forward to being involved with more Alexander James Brand Partnership events this year.
Alexander James Interior Design MD, Robert Walker and Head of Brand Partnerships, Julie Clifford, both wore pieces by David Fowkes at the Maddox Gallery event. Robert wore amethyst cufflinks and Julie selected a tourmaline and diamond pendant.
As David is currently away in Australia, we would like to thank his team at David Fowkes Jewellery for their assistance.
