TOP 5 INTERIOR DESIGN LONDON PROJECTS YOU'LL JUST LOVE

At Alexander James Interiors, we love working on projects in the heart of the capital.

London properties vary enormously in style, presenting an exciting challenge within all interior design London projects and a real opportunity to be adventurous in the design.

The architecture and history of the London property plays such an important role in the design process. For example, our majestic London Chapel Conversion called for opulent, elegant interiors to augment its grand ceilings and unique features, whereas our historic Pathé Studio Refurbishment called for interiors celebrating rich film culture and Pathé heritage.

Not only does the era, characteristics and layout of London’s properties impact on the design, but so also does the location. For example, the prestigious position of our Landmark Place Apartments demanded a celebration of the breathtaking Thames river views, whereas our quirky Central London New Build was ideally suited to contemporary, trendy interiors with an edge.

In summary, there really is no ‘one’ interior design London style and that’s why we love London properties; each project requires maximum creativity, celebrating and enhancing the unique qualities of that particular building.

To share some inspiration and illustrate that there is no ‘one’ city style, here are our top 5 recent interior design London projects.

1. The Pathé

Situated in the historic Pathé Building, home to Pathé Films, we designed the interiors of two quirky apartments, taking cues from Soho’s rich culture and of course Pathé itself.

Old film reels, vintage movie showtime boards, old French film posters and retro magazines were all the order of the day, bringing the film heritage to life within these high-specification loft apartments.

A perfect marriage of quirky character, fun and relaxation, we designed these apartments to provide a haven from the exhilarating Soho hustle and bustle right outside the front door – a home with bundles of style and qualities to suit life in the very heart of London. See more here

2. The Chapel

Our deluxe chapel conversion (as seen in Call the Midwife and many other period dramas) takes centre stage of the former St Joseph’s college. With a brief to transform the elegantly restored building into a turn-key home, Alexander James Interiors created a luxurious scheme to help potential buyers visualise living in this stunning, yet unusual property.

One of our favourite interior design London projects, we introduced an abundance of carefully-selected, bespoke furnishings to bring a homely feeling of comfort and intimacy to the magnificent 45 foot ceilings and large, open-plan living spaces. We used a charming palette of soft greys accented with vibrant teal to continue this homely sense of elegance and sophistication throughout, allowing the exquisite original features to sing. 3. Landmark Place

Landmark Place, neighbouring the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, is a spectacular development overlooking the Thames.

Our brief was to create an outstanding show apartment for Barratt Homes London’s most prestigious development in their history, that would perform seamlessly at the top end of the market.

We created a high-end city apartment interior design, reflecting the beauty of the city right on its doorstep and the breathtaking city views expanding as far as the eye could see. With bespoke furniture designed by modern artisans, exquisitely lavish fabrics throughout and limited-edition art by Damien Hirst, every aspect of this project was upscale, city-sleek and extremely luxurious. 4. Battersea Apartments

A contemporary regeneration of a 1930s estate, the brief for our interior design London Battersea project was to create a cool, urban home suitable for young professionals within this modern development.

We used a neutral colour palette to emphasise the superb light shining through the balcony and large windows, as well as to create a fresh, contemporary city look. We punctuated the interiors with pops of green, yellow and blue to add personality and character, giving a funky, edgy vibe to these trendy apartments. See more here.

5. Blackfriars Apartments

Rushworth Street is a boutique development of nine luxury apartments and penthouses in bustling Blackfriars. The apartments have an understated sense of style, the living areas following a muted palette of soft grey walls and cotton white oak floors throughout. This simple interior design London style is elegant in its own right, but also offers room for individual expression.

The furniture and styling echoes the character of the apartments with a masculine and slightly industrial feel, achieved by pairing exposed brick wallpaper with vintage leather sofas and iconic pieces of furniture. Bronze and brass detailing in the accessories, sofa studding and furniture edging is subtle but effective, pulling together the scheme in an eclectic manner. See more here
